Completed projects

Five sites, five different constraints

Three scaffold structures on the historic lawn of a Renaissance cloister, a design installation in the cloister of the Università Statale di Milano, set up twice in two gardens, a modular house on a lawn, two wind turbines, and the warning-sign posts of a road open to traffic. The photographs are our own, taken on site.

In the Second Cloister of Santa Croce, without touching the lawn

Three scaffold-tube structures on the historic lawn of a Renaissance cloister in Florence. No digging, no concrete: screwed in, used and taken out.

Year: September 2026 — Genius Loci festivalWhere: Second Cloister, monumental complex of Santa Croce (Opera di Santa Croce), Florence
Two large white giraffe sculptures, each with a crystal chandelier hanging from its neck, on the lawn of the cloister of the Università Statale di Milano, with an arcaded loggia and columns.

Giraffe in Love: screw anchors for securing design artworks

A design installation anchored in the cloister of the Università Statale di Milano during Milan Design Week 2019, with other similar installations in prestigious resorts in Paestum.

Year: 2019, Milan Design WeekWhere: Cloister of the Università Statale di Milano, temporary installation · resort grounds in Paestum, long-term installation
A-frame modular house with timber cladding and a dark roof, set on an open lawn with trees in the background.
Residential and modular building

A house that opens in a day

Modular building has cut the assembly time of a home to hours. If the foundation still takes weeks, the advantage is lost along the way.

Year: 2018Where: Arona (Novara, Italy)
The rotor of a vertical-axis wind turbine lifted by a mobile crane against the sky, during assembly on a lawn with trees.
Energy

A wind tower without a single cubic metre of concrete

Two installations of WindCity vertical-axis turbines, on the shore of Lake Garda in 2018 and in England in 2022. No concrete footing was poured in either.

Years: 2018 and 2022Where: Torbole, shore of Lake Garda · England

Infrastructure

Road signs and roadside warning panels, without opening up a work site

In Città di Castello the weather-warning panels were installed at the roadside while cars kept driving past: no digging in the verge, no concrete to wait for, and the ground as it was when the work was done.

Year: February 2024Where: Città di Castello (Perugia, Italy)

Why you won't find savings percentages here

How much you save with screw foundations depends on the ground, the loads, the distance to the site and what would have been done otherwise: an average figure would not help anyone decide. For these projects we describe the constraint and the solution; we make the cost comparison on the real project, together with the person who signs it off.
