Ground anchors for beach clubs

Platforms, kiosks, walkways and service structures on the sand. Stainless steel T-Block® screw foundations go in with no concrete on the beach; unscrewed, they leave no trace.

Why ground screws on the beach

A beach club stands on sand, changes from one season to the next and often occupies land held under a concession. A foundation that screws in and out keeps pace with that.

No concrete on the beach

The screw goes into the sand and takes load as soon as it is in. No digging, no concrete brought onto the beach, no footings left to break out.

Unscrewed, it leaves no trace

Platforms, kiosks and walkways can be taken down and put up again. When they are no longer needed, the foundation is unscrewed and the sand goes back to how it was.

Stainless steel for the salt air

On the beach we use AISI 304 stainless steel. Where needed, the model is designed to measure: flange, head and length to suit the structure.

Installed out of season

The projects below were carried out between November and May, while the beach clubs were closed. The tracked machine comes off the lorry on the seafront and can work right next to the beach huts.

Beach concessions and permits

On public coastal land, how easily a structure can be removed also matters. A foundation that unscrews helps in designing demountable structures, but planning permission and authorisation depend on the project, the local authority and the competent bodies: they must be checked case by case with the designer.

The foundations were screwed into the sand of the Aquamarina beach club, next to the blocks of beach huts, inside a fenced area on the seafront.

On each screw, a round flange and a U-bracket; on the brackets, the glulam beams, the floor structure and the decking of the platform. Nothing is poured into the sand.

After the topographic survey and setting out, the foundations were screwed in a circle on the beach; installation carried on after sunset. A circular steel frame was then mounted on top.

The model was designed for this job and, before supply, tested on the beach with load tests.

How they are installed on the beach

Four steps, the same on every site above.

  1. Survey and setting out

The points are marked on the sand from the design data.

  2. The machine arrives

The tracked machine comes off the lorry on the seafront and reaches the work area.

  3. Screwing to level

The mast keeps the screw vertical as it goes into the sand; the head stops at the design level.

  4. Fixing the structure

Brackets, beams or frames are fixed to the heads straight after installation.
