Pioneers of ground anchors and screw foundations in Italy

Since 2004 Sistemi Chiocciola srl has designed and manufactured T-Block® screw foundations in Monterchi (Arezzo, Italy). An Italian patent that since 2003 has been changing the way we build.

Sistemi Chiocciola srl

We are an Italian company specialising in the design and manufacture of ground anchors and screw foundations for civil, industrial and infrastructure applications. Our T-Block patent, filed in 2003, is the first ground anchor and screw foundation system to create a universal fixed point, designed and manufactured entirely in Italy for more than twenty years.

Our mission is to make foundations quicker, more economical and more sustainable — doing without concrete where it is not needed.

Online configurator

The new website brings the online configurator for screw foundations: a digital tool that guides professionals and private customers in choosing the right screw for their project, their ground and their load.

T-Block in the Arctic

With West Systems, T-Block screw foundations carry environmental monitoring instruments in the bed of a glacial river near Ny-Ålesund, in the Svalbard islands, at 78° north: screwed in by hand, with no digging and no concrete.

Digitising our processes

We start digitising calculations, the catalogue and internal processes: from the technical analysis of projects to the production of documents. More time for engineering, faster answers for the people who design with us.

A high-profile sports centre

Installation of the largest screw foundations in the T-Block range for the roof over the tennis courts of a well-known Italian sports centre — one of the most demanding projects for load and precision.

The first foldable (A-frame) house in Italy

A different first from the one in 2013: the first foldable A-frame house installed in Italy, without concrete, on T-Block screw foundations.

Spiagge Luna — the first beach clubs on screws

The first beach clubs in Italy on stainless steel screw foundations, for the Cooperativa Bagnini di Misano Adriatico (Rimini). The "Spiagge Luna" project proves the technology in an aggressive marine environment, where the corrosion resistance of stainless steel is decisive.

Tracked machine screwing foundations straight into the beach sand, with the anchors already installed and marked with red and white tape.

T-Block around the world

T-Block screw foundations reach the Polo World Cup final in Argentina and the skier conveyor tunnels of major ski resorts in the Italian and Swiss Alps — including Andermatt in Switzerland.

The WARA project — the first home on T-Block

The first home in Italy built on T-Block screw foundations, without concrete. Designed by architect Rainer Toshikazu Winter, it stands in Tufillo (Chieti) — no concrete poured, no impact on the soil.

Solar on an industrial scale

First large ground-mounted solar plant on T-Block screw foundations: about 6 MW installed in 90 days in Montalto di Castro (Viterbo) — among the very first in Italy of this size built without pouring any concrete.

First industrial machines

Working with a major European manufacturer of post-driving machines, T-Block develops the first tracked machines dedicated to the industrial installation of T-Block — changing the market for screw foundations under large ground-mounted solar structures.

The patent

The T-Block patent is filed: the first screw foundation system designed and manufactured entirely in Italy.

Four of these projects were born in a laboratory

The University of Florence test cell, MED IN ITALY in Madrid, the first Italian house on screws and Solar Decathlon Africa: research prototypes that needed a removable foundation, installed on a fixed date and without a building site.

Research and testing

Our values

Sustainability

Every screw foundation installed cuts CO₂ emissions by 50% to 85% compared with conventional concrete. Our practical contribution to the ecological transition.

Quality

Hot-dip galvanized (ISO 1461) or electro-galvanized steel in the standard catalogue; AISI 304 stainless steel available across almost the whole range. Custom models (geometries and materials to specification) on request. The service life of the galvanizing depends on the zinc thickness and on how aggressive the soil is: for aggressive soils, stainless steel is considered.

Innovation

From the 2003 patent to the online configurator: we keep moving. We invest steadily in research and development to widen the range and improve performance.
