Anchoring a gazebo to the ground, without concrete
To secure a gazebo to the ground, drive a T-Block® screw anchor in under each post and fix the post foot onto its head. For a 3×3 m gazebo four T-Block T4 are usually enough. No ballast and no footings: at the end of the season they are unscrewed and leave no trace.
In the photo, a pop-up fabric gazebo: it is held by its guy lines, tied to the screw anchors with an eye bolt.
Why a screw anchor instead of ballast
A gazebo is light but catches a lot of wind. It needs an anchor that holds it firmly to the ground.
It holds in the wind
Wind tends to lift the roof. A T-Block screw anchor also works in tension and keeps the gazebo tied to the ground.
No footings, no ballast
No digging into the lawn and no concrete blocks or weights at the foot of the posts. The structure is fixed straight onto the T-Blocks as soon as they are in.
On a paved yard too
Drill a hole in the paving, screw in the T-Block and fit the gazebo. The rest of the paving stays as it is, just as with carports.
Unscrewed at the end of the season
Unscrewed, T-Blocks leave no trace. They can be reused the following year, even in a different spot in the garden.
Anchoring pergolas, tents and parasols
The principle is the same as for the gazebo; what changes is how the structure connects to the anchor.
Fixed gazebos and pergolas
One T-Block under each post: the post foot is fixed onto the head. The same goes for fixed gazebos and shelters.
Tents and tensile structures
The guy lines of fabric roofs are tied to the screw anchors. They go in for the event and are unscrewed when it ends.
Events and temporary structures
Garden parasols
The cross base is fixed to the ground at the corners with four electro-galvanized T1 or T3 screws.
Step-by-step installationWhich T-Block, and how many
These are the rules of thumb our configurator uses. They give a first estimate; the right number depends on the size, the roof and the soil.
Gazebo or pergola 3×3 m
One per post.
Larger structures
One per post, with posts no more than 4 m apart. A rigid roof or side panels mean the wind pushes harder.
Soft ground
In soft clay, silt or peat, take the model from the next series up. The configurator does this for you.
For tensile structures and event canopies, the choice is made on the project: get in touch. Up to the T6 series they are installed by hand: installing by hand with the T-wrench.
